According to a recent article by Boston Indicators (the research center at the Boston Foundation), food insecurity in Massachusetts has doubled during the COVID-19 pandemic, from an 8% share of the population in 2019 to 16% in 2020. Almost 20% of households with children in Massachusetts are now considered food insecure, and Latinx and Black communities have been disproportionately affected, with roughly 25% of those communities reporting food insecurity during the pandemic.
