Boston Marathon Team
April in Newton means spring is coming and it’s time for the Boston Marathon. And, every April a Newton Food Pantry volunteer or supporter gets the opportunity to run this historic marathon while raising money to help alleviate food insecurity in Newton. This year, our Newton Food Pantry runner is Patty Connolly. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the 2021 Boston Marathon is taking place on October 11. Walk for Hunger Team
In 1969, Project Bread’s The Walk for Hunger was founded on the promise, by the people of Massachusetts, to provide relief to our neighbors struggling with food insecurity. This promise remains today. The Walk for Hunger, a 20-mile group walk into Boston which takes place on the first Sunday each May, is the oldest continual pledge walk in the United States and the largest annual one-day fundraiser to help alleviate local hunger in Massachusetts.
The money raised by Walk participants, like the Newton Food Pantry team, will provide grants to hundreds of community-based programs that rely on support—food pantries, hot meal programs, summer meals for kids, farm and garden initiatives, health center programs and more.

Ride for Food Team
Every October for the past 10 years, the Three Squares New England has organized a community bike ride, The Ride for Food, to raise funds for participating hunger-relief partners, including the Newton Food Pantry. You can join our fundraising team, and choose between a 25-mile or 50-mile bike route which leaves from and returns to the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham.

Newton’s Community Table
Newton’s Community Table is a unique event in October where guests can experience the tastes of some of Newton’s best restaurants and feel good knowing that all proceeds will go to benefit our community. Join us in the fall of 2022 as the community comes together for a night of fabulous food while helping fight hunger right in our neighborhood.
Stay tuned for details in spring 2022.
Newton Turkey Trot
Each November, the Newton Turkey Trot hosts a USATF certified 5K run and 1-mile fun run benefiting the Newton Food Pantry. The goal of this event is to raise youth’s awareness of health and wellness and community service. Through our partnership, the Newton Turkey Trot commits to raise $10,000 for the Newton Food Pantry and to support families over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Volunteers from the Newton Food Pantry assist the race organizers of the Newton Turkey Trot by advertising and publicizing the event throughout the community, by encouraging participation and by staffing volunteer slots leading up to and on race day.
