December Volunteer Spotlight: Megan Russell

Megan Russell started volunteering for the NFP two years ago, and does a variety of jobs for the pantry. She is a Wednesday afternoon volunteer, sometimes serving as shift supervisor. She is in charge of tax receipts and thank you notes for both in-kind donations and cash donations over $250. Megan is also in charge of creating and distributing most NFP client documents, including their translation into three other languages (Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin). She also manages the NFP’s virtual library and uses Salesforce to keep track of volunteer and donor info, and does other small projects as needed. Megan says, “I most enjoy interacting with clients…these interactions allow me to build long-term relationships with our clients…working at the NFP provides me with good perspective and grounds me in my day-to-day life.”

Megan has three children (ages 11, 10, and 5), so her free time when she is not at the pantry is primarily spent on activities involving them. She volunteers at their schools, and she also recently picked up tennis. She and her husband came to the US from Canada in 2005, and have lived in Newton since 2009.

Thank you, Megan, for everything that you do for the pantry, and for doing it all with a smile!
