Volunteer Spotlight: Debby Horwitz

Debby Horwitz has been volunteering for the Newton Food Pantry since 2002. Debby taught in the Newton public school system for thirty years, primarily as a first grade teacher, while raising her three children. Once she retired from teaching and had more free time, she decided to volunteer for the pantry as a way of giving back to the Newton community. Debby works on Wednesday afternoons, serving as shift supervisor and helping clients shop. In addition to her work at the pantry, Debby volunteers with the Newton Free Library as an English as a Second Language tutor, and serves as a usher at local theatre productions. Aside from her volunteer activities, Debby enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.

Thank you, Debby, for your long-term dedication to the Newton Food Pantry and for being a terrific Wednesday Shift Supervisor!
