Volunteer Spotlight: Helen Jordan

Helen Jordan has been volunteering at the Newton Food Pantry since 2015. She serves as Wednesday morning Shift Coordinator, is in charge of picking up donated foods from Panera and Trader Joe’s each week, and also helps periodically with home delivery. Helen says she volunteers at the NFP because, “I have been blessed. I can’t bear people not having enough to eat. It’s unconscionable.”

Helen is one busy woman. In addition to her volunteer work at the pantry, she volunteers at the Newton Senior Center, Newton at Home, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the Greater Boston Food Bank (on behalf of the First Unitarian Society), and the Women’s Lunch Place. Helen loves spending active time outdoors, including gardening (she’s a master gardener), hiking, and playing tennis. She also enjoys babysitting for her 6 grandkids.
