A Special Salute to Emma Wu

This month we celebrate the young adults who assist at the pantry on Wednesday mornings as part of our long-term affiliation with the Community Connections program, a Newton Public Schools program that provides opportunities for young adults with disabilities to develop independence, as well as vocational and life skills.

Emma Wu has been volunteering at the pantry since June, 2017. Her job is to bag the coffee and tea, and sometimes she helps Jack organize the canned foods. Emma loves to scoop and bag the coffee and tea, so this job seems like a great fit for her! Emma has learned that she “enjoys having a job,” and “might continue to volunteer” at the pantry after she transitions from the Community Connections program. We’re so glad you feel that way, Emma! In her spare time, Emma likes to play the piano, and cook for her family. She also loves ballet and Disney movies.
