A Special Salute to Jack Casey
This month we celebrate the young adults who assist at the pantry on Wednesday mornings as part of our long-term affiliation with the Community Connections program, a Newton Public Schools program that provides opportunities for young adults with disabilities to develop independence, as well as vocational and life skills.
Jack Casey has worked for the pantry since 2016. Since he loves to organize, it is fitting that his job is to organize the canned beans, vegetables, and fruit. Jack also stocks the shelves with canned goods and breaks down the boxes for recycling. He’s learned that the job can be “hard and noisy when there are a lot of people,” but that “teamwork is great!” We agree, Jack! In his spare time, Jack loves to play Guess Who, work on puzzles, and watch cooking shows on television.
